About the Position

The position will work within a small team of specialised officers and work with service providers and contractors to ensure the appropriate policy and program development improvements are madeto influence the retention, maintenance, and expansion of the City's urban forest, comprising an estimated 800,000 trees.

The role is responsible for developing and delivering a range of specialised projects that improve the interventions related to trees in the urban landscape in streets, parks, and open spaces. The street and park trees you enhance support the City's canopy cover target, which underpins the Gold Coast's enviable lifestyle.

About You

You will hold current Arboriculture qualifications that align with the role. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to lead and support a high performing team. You will have demonstrated your ability and experience in negotiating positive outcomes in managing trees in the public realm. You will possess proven financial and budget management skills and enjoy working as part of a larger team. We require a person with strong problem-solving ability as well as exceptional interpersonal and communication skills.

Candidates will be experienced working in a municipal or local government setting, with a passion for high quality customer service and achieving community outcomes. You will be focused on and committed to the safety of your teammates, stakeholders, and public space users.
